Birthday Girl! (s)

Yup, the first week or two in August are busy busy in our family!  First, Kessa will turn 4 on the 3rd, then Grace will be 1 (how is that possible?!?!) on the 6th and Tim and I's anniversary is on the 9th!

So, while we're gearing up for lots of fun, the girls and I went out and took pictures of their birthday dresses (which are also available as custom orders in the shop!) for their invitations.

These dresses actually aren't upcycled.  I caved and bought knit yardage so that I would have enough to make them matching dresses.

heheheh, Grace is in LOVE with the balloons!  Pretty sure nothing she gets for her birthday will hold a candle in her eyes to these things.  he!

And I just HAD to share this one.  Classic Kessa.  Cracks me up every time I look at it!

I am a...

Twirly swirly girly skirt fan!  And my daughter is too.  You can expect to see a lot of this style in the shop in a few weeks.  My daughter has worn it for at least part of the day every day since I've made it for her.  She LOVES to spin and twirl in it and show me her "ballerina spin."

The fact that her doll has a matching one?  Pure and simple icing on the cake.  This pattern is by Little Blue Boo and is totally amazing...and there are adult sizes!

And there's a new listing up in the shop...pop on over, check out the name, and then leave your guess on the facebook page as to what children's movie/book the title is from for your chance to win a BFD buck.

Purple Power!

I switched out the thread on my serger to purple a few days ago for some customs and I'm having fun making up some other items too.  (And in case you still haven't visited the facebook page and happened to miss out, if you order something with purple thread by tomorrow you'll get 10% off!)

However, with all the new stuff I've been sewing I'm MOST excited about the new pattern I got to test out today....I've been waiting for this pattern for MONTHS and Ashley at Little Blue Boo, as always, has made it worth the wait!  I got the pattern this afternoon and I whipped out a doll version for Gabby (our Bitty Baby) and Kessa.  They're sooo cute and Kessa LOVED the twirl in this twirl skirt.  In fact...I think it may need a warning label sewn into the inside that says something like, "Warning, may cause excessive twirling.  Wear only in open spaces"  hehe!  Be expecting TONS of these in the shop in the next few weeks....and even more on my daughters!  lol

Sadly, I don't have any pictures of them yet, but with all these new clothes we sometimes have a hard time finding just the right color nail polish to go with them...

but after much searching, and check with all the girls in the family...

we usually are able to settle on one!

Tomorrow is our freezer cooking day, so we'll have a busy day, but then a full freezer!

Teeny Tiny

I went to a baby shower for my niece Kylie (debuting Sept. 2010!) last night and while we had pacis (because Kessa said Kylie NEEDED them) and this book (because it made a HUGE difference in my parenting and God used it to keep me sane after 'Zekiel was born) I felt it needed a handmade something.

So, I dug through my knits and found these two shirts which I just loved together!!!  This is so teeny tiny!  It should fit when Kylie is born...and a few weeks after maybe, but not for long.

and just to give you an idea of how little it is...

(for those of you that aren't "local" Taco Tierra is THE eating spot and their drinks and comeback cups are an integral part of living around here.  They're probably about 8 inches tall.)
